Backup Outlook Express email

Method 1:

Took backup of Outlook Express manualy:


1. Select in the Outlook Express main menu Tools Options . item on the Maintenance tab, you should press the Store Folder button.




2. Copy the location path of the Outlook Express dbx files into Clipboard (press Ctrl+C or Ctrl+Ins).
Copy the following folder: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{long sequence of numbers and letters}\Microsoft\Outlook Express To a backup location (blank CD, Zip disk, backup HD, etc.).
3. Open Windows Explorer, paste the location path into Address filed (press Ctrl+V or Shift+Ins) and press Enter.



4. Select a damaged dbx file(s) in right pane of Windows Explorer and copy to save place.

Note:
When you use Windows NT/2000/XP you should have appropriate rights for viewing system files on a computer.
You need setup Windows Explorer (Tools Folder Options in main menu) and unhide a system files and a folders.

To import the email back into OE:
1) Open Outlook Express 2) Click File - Import - Messages 3) Highlight Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and click Next 4) Choose Import mail from an OE6 store directory, and click OK 5) Browse to the location (folder) where you backed up your email and click OK.
That's it. You've now imported all your old emails.
This is especially useful for clean installs of your operating system, or moving emails to a different machine.

Method 2:

To restore the Outlook Express folders you should download and install OE-Mail Recovery software (download Outlook Express emails restore tool).
