Unable to uninstall Internet Explorer 7 or 8 after installing Service Pack 3 in Windows XP

SUMMARY

This article describes how to uninstall IE 7 or 8 after the installation of SP3 in Windows XP.

Note: There is no option to uninstall IE 7 or 8 in Add/Remove Programs. This situation occurs if you install IE 7 or 8 before you install Windows XP SP3.

  1. Uninstall Windows XP SP3
  2. Uninstall IE 8 (Internet Explorer 8)
    Or
  3. Uninstall IE 7 (Internet Explorer 7)
  4. Reinstall Windows XP SP3
